Market Strategy
A detailed documentation of our current competitors and business plan for promoting our device.
Current Competitors
Industry - Based Competitors:
Many of the current companies that focus on ultrasound technology have not expanded on ultrasonograohy probes nor constructing an interactive 3D model of the human eye. Current companies that focus on ultrasound technology are: Ellex, Quantel, and Accutome.
Research - Based Competitors:
There was a research group that published a paper in 1996. Downey, et. al created an attachment for an ultrasonography probe and constructed a 3D model of the eye. However, their 3D model offered limited information regarding the identification of abnormalities or lesions within the human eye.
Our Business Plan
Exective Summary:
The challenge with current ultrasonography devices is the limited physical range that the physician can rotate the probe, as well as the limited information that is obtained by the scan. Our device offers physicians an automatic rotation of the probe, and provides the patient with a realistic 3D model of their eye that provides an accurate diagnosis. Our target market are local physicians, hospitals, and private practices. Our funds are primarily geared towards producing durable manufactured devices and quality electrical components.
Market Analysis Summary:
Our target market is physicians and hospitals in the local area for now. With current ultrasound machines, physicians are the only ones that can perform the scan. Our device is geared towards allowing technicians to perform the scan independent of an overseeing physician. We are currently working with the Gavin Herbert Eye Institution at UCI, so we are able to contact physicians and discuss these improvements based on their needs. Since we are working with our physician mentor, we will be able to form a connection with the network of physicians there to deliver our final device.
We have been testing the pressure applied on a pig eye, as well as troubleshooting through the production process to limit the physical failure modes that might arise. Our device is a better option for physicians that perform ultrasonography scans because we are constantly looking for ways to improve the quality of our product through the previous testing mentioned. Our future timeline, which includes further testing to improve our device, is shown below:
